Coolness: Tough. Beautiful.Polo

I had to blog this ad, as it's way to cool. It was shot in North London and it features the world best Argentine tango dancers-this master piece is called "Last Tango In Compton". I love the contrast between this beautiful sensual dance with the LA urban inspired tough gang image, so original. I love Spanish inspired dancing, really want to learn this lol.

Enjoy

Coolness: Perfume Ads With A Throwback Twist!

I'm an 80s baby and i'm completely obsessed with anything from the past, the fashion, the music, technology, the TV shows......just everything really, i should really let it go, but i can't :-(. I actually go all giddy when i see throwbacks like these adverts.

Lately, I've been obsessed with with these fragrance adverts by Chloe and Gucci, they are fantastic!-don't you think?. I love the use of the old school music, fashion, vision and just the artistry of capturing that authentic 70s and 80s imagery, i wish i was the creative director for this project.

For the past few years I've also collected some 70s to early 80s vogue magazines (i'm a collector) and it really looks like they've been doing their home work, or they've been watching movies like An American Gigolo (1980) and Moment by Moment (1978). it's 25 seconds of pure bliss.
enjoy! :-)
Latest advert by Chloe
I love this perfume so much ;-)

My Future Husband, James Franco stars in it! lol

Purchases: FujiFilm Instanx 210 Camera

I finally bought a new instant camera today and I'm soooo happy!!!!. When Polaroid died, i was devastated, thought that was it :-( and as a creative person, having that instant gratification does wonders for the soul,I've bought a lot of film so i will be having fun with it. The only negative side of this camera is that it's a little bulky, it's light, but not as cute as a Polaroid camera and it takes batteries, but honestly i'm just happy a huge firm like Fuji are doing it.

Anyways, if your into instant film, i recommend it, the pics are great, has simple features too,
or the mini instanx camera, love you FujiFilms!:-).

One down, a few more cameras to go!

I Want You: Camera,Lights and Action!

This is the segment on my blog where i share the things i want to have, simply titled,
"I Want You"
Camera's, Camera's!, I've been obsessed with cameras since i was child, especially instant film. I own about three cameras, two 1980s instant Polaroid cameras and a standard digital camera. As I'm really into photography I started to get into cameras again. Unfortunately i work a tedious unmotivated boring 9-5( to pay bills) so I'm compelled to have a creative outlet, still trying to get into my profession(Journalism). I love messing around with images, and seeing what comes out.

I'm going on a short city break to Rome, Italy with my best friend and cousin for her 26th bday in November, i seriously can't wait and i really want to capture the stunning city in it's glory, so I'm going to buy an amazing new camera, and finally build up my collection, I've been obsessing over.
I honestly believe you don't have to be a professional to be a good photographer, just have a good eye and be creative.

These are the cameras I'm looking to purchase in the coming months:

FujiFilm Instax 210

Holga

Lomography Fish Eye Camera
Flip Camera Video

& The Canon G11 Camera

I Love Music: Underworld-Born Slippy

I absolutely love this song, not only does it match the movie trainspotting beautifully(great movie too) , it's a fantastic track( still don't understand what being born slippy means ha), but brings a lot of memories for me when i was an 11 year old back in 1996, discovering my eclectic taste in music (sighs), don't you just love when movies and music marry perfectly together?
I'll do a post on that soon!!
Any Danny Boyle movie always wins me over!

Coco's World:Her Likes and Dislikes

This is our family dog Coco, she's almost 19 weeks(4.5 months) old and she's a right little terror, but is playful, beautiful and very affectionate, but can sometimes believe she is a German Shepard. We've had her since she was 7.5 weeks old and it's been an adventure. She's half Pomeranian(hyper and petite) and English Springer Spaniel( intelligent and energetic) just thought I'll share some things about her on the blog.

tired after playing with other doggies!
She looks innocent, but she isn't , she's praying someones feeds her! :-)

Likes: Food, the garden, hogging toys, barking at the air, licking, playing and anything that squeaks.

Dislikes: Cats, being alone, the blow dryer, the vacuum cleaner, the wheelie bin, being told off and the rain.

Note: Taken by Blackberry, hence the not so good quality pics

Fashion: American Apparel vs Roller Boogie The Movie 1979

Many people who know me ,know I'm obsessed with vintage things, especially the decades the 1950s and 1970s(seriously, I was born in the wrong decade-the mid 80s to be exact).... but I digress. A few days ago I bought Roller Boogie the movie (yes it's cheesy, but it's the 1970s, what can I say). I really only bought it because i love disco music, roller skating and late 70s fashion, Linda Blair(the exorcist) looked stunning in this movie too, cute, but what a cheesy story line. Anyways, as i was watching, i didn't realise how much American Apparel have modelled their clothing line from this movie, I love AA by the way-very over priced, but it's like a non second hand 1970s candy store heaven.

I'm always researching movies and fashion, so i was pleasantly surprised to find out that AA actually played this movie in their stores back in 2006 as a homage to the movie, they basically saw this movie and decided to buy all the type of material they used in the disco era, and hey presto, AA was born in downtown LA, were the movie was shot too.

I was a little shocked to hear AA are in financial trouble though, honestly if AA closed down i would be seriously depressed, I like vintage but at the same time i love to buy retro remakes too, i'm always praying that they can slash the stupid prices, because £20 for a T-shirt is ridiculous, and there questionable advertising sometimes reminds me of the sleazy seventies, but i love there clothes too death. I've got some movie stills, courtesy of http://www.susan-a-miller.com/rollerboogie/dvd and the rest are from the AA website, so you can see the similarities.

Have you heard the rumour about American Apparel being in debt and what are your thoughts about it?

Cringe: Past Celebrity Couples That Don't Match?

I've been into a lot of old school movies lately and the other day I was watching James bond a view to kill, i believe it's called. I was looking up Grace Jones, one of my Idols, and I couldn't believe who she used to date. Anyway have you ever thought to yourself how odd a match some celebrities in the past have been?, slightly cringe worthy, but hey- we are all in titled to fall in love with anyone we choose too, but i just wanted to share in my opinion some of the odd ball couples I've found:

Ted Danson and Whoopi Goldberg? Yikes!
Julia Roberts and that geezer? love is blind (ooops)

Rick James and Linda Blair? Random

Grace Jones & Dolph Lundgren? Very Interesting

Coolness: I Heart Dancers aka "Gotta Dance"

i love to dance and it's a real shame I couldn't become a professional dancer :-( but I did do talent shows, so know permanent damage done :-). Just like music, i'm completed obsessed with dancing too. Whilst browsing through my latest obsession (again) dancing........(I really don't know what i would do without YouTube), I found these great clips of "real dancers" mostly all street dancers, with no professional training at all, you may some of recognise them. I love street dancers because you see raw emotions and passion, something I don't think you can see in a dance studio.

When i watch programmes like Randy Jackson's American Dance Crew, I enjoy it, but their is nothing like an old school dancer. I salute all the lockers, poppers, breakers, wacckers, tappers, freestylers and even the square dancers around the world who keep these art forms alive!!.

Here are some of my favourite dancing quotes: "Dancing: the vertical expression of a horizontal desire legalized by music". ~George Bernard Shaw

"Dancers are instruments, like a piano the choreographer plays". ~George Balanchine

"I see dance being used as communication between body and soul, to express what it too deep to find for words". ~Ruth St. Denis

"Remember, Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astaire did, but backwards and in high heels". ~Faith Whittlesey

If you enjoy the art of dance like me, here are some great clips, courtesy of YouTube, enjoy :-)

enjoy :-)!

I Love Music: Beyonce and Alicia Keys

I'm still up at 2.20 am, but i was on YouTube and saw this Beyonce video, firstly freaking sick ass video and secondly, the beat is soooo 70s funk, you know that blaxploitation soundtrack vibe, amazing!!!!! this is the best video I've seen in ages, put a vintage stamp on it, and I'm dying happily inside.
And we also have the incredibly talented and beautiful Alicia Keys, doing it vintage themed too, directed by British video director Jake Nava, he has done some incredible videos in his career(jealous).
love love love this video, powerful message-it really touched me, co-starring Chad Micheal Murray(soo cute), what else can a girl ask for!!!!
